Janet Vincent was called as St. Columba’s seventh rector in the summer of 2006. She began ministry here on Nov. 1, 2006.
A graduate of Manhattanville College, Janet received her Master of Divinity degree from The General Theological Seminary
in 1983. She has served churches in New York as associate rector of Grace Church, Nyack, rector of St. John’s Church, Kingston, and before coming to St. Columba’s as rector of Grace Church, White Plains, and as president of the Grace Church Community Center. Through the parish and community center Janet served as an advocate for the poor of Westchester County especially those served by the GCCC.
For seven years Janet was a faculty member of CREDO, a national program of enrichment and renewal for Episcopal Clergy. She also served on the staff of the Center for Christian Spirituality at the General Theological Seminary working with her friend and now colleague Margaret Guenther. She has been formed and informed by Ignatian spirituality and makes an eight day
retreat each year.
A lifelong New Yorker before moving to Bethesda in 2006, Janet is a third generation Yankees fan and enjoys getting to games especially with her nephew. Janet enjoys the company of good friends, her dog, Sumner and annual visits to Wellfleet on
Cape Cod.
