Julia has been the Director of the Nursery School since 2006, although her first experience as a teacher at St. Columba’s took place in 1986 after completing her Master’s in Early Childhood Education and Human Development at George Washington University. All three of her children attended the nursery school.
Prior to being the head of the nursery school, Julia worked as an oil spill cleanup expert in Alaska. Her degree in botany from the Berkley helped her to write contingency plans to protect sensitive areas and clean oil spills.
In between her years teaching in the nursery school and her return as its director, Julia also worked as a science teacher and writer for young children.
