On May 12 -14, 2011, St. Columba’s will hold a combined yard and bake sale as both a fundraising and community-building initiative. The sale begins for
parishioners only on Thurs., May 12, from 6–8 pm. On Friday (10 am to 5 pm) and Saturday (10 am to 3 pm) the sale is also open to the local community. Here’s how you can help make the “New to You” yard sale a success:
• Mark the dates on your
calendar. Plan to join in on the fun and fundraising!
• Volunteer to sort and transport items prior to the sale or to conduct sales, serve refreshments and otherwise assist during the sale. To find out more, contact co-chairs Elizabeth Rankin (eerankin4619@ aol.com) or Courtney Hundley (firstname.lastname@example.org).
• Have a favorite cake, pie, sweet or non-dessert item? In the next couple of months we will be asking for donations of baked goods for the sale. Please offer to donate your culinary creation when the request goes out!
• Start saving new or nearly new items for the yard sale. Clothes, toys, tools, housewares, sporting goods, furniture, collectibles, etc., are all needed! A notice will go out in the near future about where to take items so they can be sorted, priced and staged for transport to the church for the sale days. But you can begin saving items now!
This is one of a limited number of fundraising and community-building activities identified by the vestry and planned for the late winter and spring to help balance the budget in support of our worship, youth, music and outreach activities, and to give parishioners opportunities to interact with others in the parish—those whom they know and those they don’t yet.
