Living the Gospel requires active global partnership to end extreme poverty. St. Columba’s ministries in the developing world reflect our commitment to the principles of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

Honduras Mission Group

St. Columba’s sponsors occasional summer work trips in collaboration with the Episcopal Diocese of Honduras and a companion parish. We also support a reforestation project and provide rural families with training and tools to overcome poverty. Please contact Neil Orlando or Noreen Shanbacker (hondurasleader@columba.org). More >>

South Africa

We support the work of the Episcopal Church in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, which is dedicated to helping rural children and families affected by AIDS and poverty. We have a close connection to the monks of the Order of the Holy Cross, who provide scholarship assistance, tutoring and, beginning in 2009, their own school in Grahamstown, South Africa. We also support the work of Episcopal missionaries Monica Vega and Heidi Schmidt. Closely associated with the monks of Holy Cross, they have organized crucial services for more than 2,000 AIDS orphans on the Eastern Cape. A number of parishioners have made pilgrimages to South Africa and we always look forward to visits by the monks as well as Monica and Heidi. Please contact Elizabeth Vaden (southafricaleader@columba.org).
