St. Columba's Episcopal Church

Boy Choir and Girl Choir

The Boy Choir and the Girl Choir (along with the audition-only Chapel Choirs) lead the congregation at the 9 am Church Nave service from September through early June. They also sing for special holiday services, as well as for some community events. While the choirs sometimes sing together, they most often rehearse and sing separately, providing boys and girls the opportunity to be celebrated for their unique gifts and skills.

The Boy and Girl Choirs offer an excellent foundation for later musical experiences. Choristers are invited to participate in weekly sight singing classes on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7 pm. Classes include instruction in sight singing, music theory, reading music, rhythms, intervals, hymns and liturgy. Choir rehearsal follows from 7 to 7:55 pm, during which time choristers learn anthems, hymns and texts that celebrate the changing liturgical seasons.

New choristers are encouraged to begin in September, but may join at any time throughout the program year.
