Choirs for Adults

Be a part of A/V

A/V Guild members have a largely invisible but vital role each Sunday: they make sure that all parishioners can hear and see what’s going on during services and forums. If you can navigate a DVR or adjust the volume on your car stereo, you have more than enough technical skill to operate our camera and microphones. Most volunteers serve once a month at the service they regularly attend. We’re especially looking for people who’d like to help with sound and recording at Sunday Forums. Contact Elizabeth Terry (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)) for more information.

St. Columba’s relies on an all-volunteer adult choir. We have no paid section leaders, but plenty of dedicated singers from a range of musical backgrounds and experiences. In addition to regular Sunday services during the program year, the adult choirs also sing at special services such as Advent Lessons and Carols, and are a key part of our observation of Christmas, Holy Week and Easter. For those who prefer a lighter commitment, we offer a come-as-you-are summer choir with a brief rehearsal before the 10:30 am service. Click on the links for fuller details, or contact John Hurd, our Music Director and Organist.

St. Columba Singers

This adult choir rehearses weekly on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9 pm. Singers divide themselves between the 9 and 11:15 am church nave services on Sundays, and gather as a full chorus for festival occasions. Experience is helpful, and sight-reading skills are an asset. More >>

St. Columba Singers Ensemble

This chamber choir is drawn from the St. Columba Singers by audition. The Ensemble sings as part of the St. Columba Singers and also as a separate group, offering repertoire suited to a smaller ensemble. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 9 to 9:45 pm and as needed. More >>

Summer Singers rehearsalSummer Singers

This choir of all ages gathers each summer Sunday at 9:45 am to learn anthems for the 10:30 am service. All are welcome, but it is helpful if you can read music. Show up and sing; no further commitment is required. This is a great way to test the waters before joining one of our other choirs.
