St. Columba's Episcopal Church

Primary Choir

The Primary Choir offers a chance for children K-2nd grade to learn to read music and find their way through a church service. The choir sings in the Church Nave every four to six weeks from September through May and rehearses for an hour on Wednesday afternoons during the school year. Children spend part of each rehearsal learning hymns and anthems, as well as about rhythm, sight singing, the hymnal and church liturgy.

But the Primary Choir is as much about fellowship as it is about music. In good weather, rehearsals begin on the playground with refreshments and a time to play; in winter or when it rains, this playtime takes place indoors. New choristers are encouraged to begin in September, but children may join at any time throughout the program year.

Schedule (September through May)

Rehearsals: Wednesday afternoons, 4-5 pm.
Sunday Services: The Primary Choir sings at the 9 am Sunday service in the Church Nave every four to six weeks, with a warm-up at 8:30 am.
