Baptism | St. Columba's Episcopal Church

St. Columba’s welcomes all persons desiring Baptism to receive the sacrament here at St. Columba’s. We are excited to welcome the newly baptized and their family into our community and the Body of Christ!

Baptism is offered on significant Sundays in the Church’s calendar year. It is a joyous celebration where the whole community welcomes and promises to support the newly baptised. During the 2024-2025 program year Baptisms will be offered on the Celebration of All Saints, November 3; the Baptism of Jesus, January 12, 2025; at the Easter Vigil, Saturday April 19, 2024 at 7pm; on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2024 at the 9:15am and 11:15am Wee Worship services; on Pentecost, June 8, 2024; and on a date in July, to be determined, please inquire of Katie McGervey [email protected] for the exact date.

Please complete the registration form at least one month before your preferred date and we will reach out to you to arrange your or your child's baptism.

We ask that the baptismal candidate, their parents (for children), and their sponsors (Godparents) attend a preparation class and rehearsal. We will arrange the timing and location of this discussion before the date of the baptism. This conversation is a chance for us to learn more about one another and the meanings and symbolism of Baptism.

Joining a church doesn’t mean you don’t have big questions or doubts. Deciding to be part of a loving community of faith means you’re open to exploring and wrestling with those big questions and doubts. Most people here did not grow up in The Episcopal Church. Some have never been a member of any church. Many have a background in a different church or faith tradition. At St. Columba’s, there will be many opportunities to learn, ask questions, and get to know other pilgrims along the way. Our deepest hope is that everyone who steps through our doors knows they belong here.

A pledge is a promise - a promise to give a certain amount over the course of the following year. We don’t expect you to fulfill your pledge in one lump gift. Many find they can give more when pledging and then giving incrementally over the course of the year.

Pledging before the start of each calendar year is critical for clergy and staff to develop an annual budget and plan to serve you and our wider community.
