A Message from a Neighbor | St. Columba's Episcopal Church

This message comes from Maya Teitelbaum, a Water Ministry colleague of Alex Acosta. Maya is not a St. C's parishioner, but came to the Water Ministry via her neighbor Betty King. Maya and Betty both live right around the corner from Paddington Square.

“Dear Alex, last Sunday my family and I were out in front of our home and along came your Afghan family, passing by to go to the bus. I thought they must be the new family, three boys, a wife and husband. I asked them and they answered that they are your church's sponsored family. We had a nice and friendly greeting. Tonight, I was in our lovely park behind our house and I met them again, the boys happy, riding bicycles. It made me feel very happy to know that they are out an about. Thanks for all your efforts in supporting this family. Greetings, Maya"

Joining a church doesn’t mean you don’t have big questions or doubts. Deciding to be part of a loving community of faith means you’re open to exploring and wrestling with those big questions and doubts. Most people here did not grow up in The Episcopal Church. Some have never been a member of any church. Many have a background in a different church or faith tradition. At St. Columba’s, there will be many opportunities to learn, ask questions, and get to know other pilgrims along the way. Our deepest hope is that everyone who steps through our doors knows they belong here.

A pledge is a promise - a promise to give a certain amount over the course of the following year. We don’t expect you to fulfill your pledge in one lump gift. Many find they can give more when pledging and then giving incrementally over the course of the year.
