New Communications Director
St. Columba's is pleased to announce Lauren Devito as our new Director of Communications, effective August 15. Lauren joined the staff in March as part-time Creative Director of Digital Media. In that capacity, she helped us move quickly in the Call to Action for racial justice, created the video to launch our 30-30-30 campaign with Housing Up, is developing a new website (stay tuned!), and quickly became a vital member of our staff team. We anticipate a seamless transition as she steps into this new, larger role.
From Lauren:
It has been an absolute pleasure working part-time as creative director of digital media at St. Columba’s since March. From the start, the clergy, staff and parishioners of St. Columba’s have inspired me with their energy, commitment and passion for making our world better, not just with words, but with clear and deliberate action. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be included in this community.
My career in design and marketing has provided a broad range of experience, starting at MTV and spanning a wide range of clients from Volkswagen, Infiniti, and Gerber to non-profits and small businesses across the US. Originally from Staten Island, NY, I now live in Virginia with my children and partner, Steve.
Moving into the role of director of communications, I look forward to helping spread the message of love, peace, justice and inclusivity that encompasses the St. Columba’s spirit. As a community, we are faced with many challenges in this new way of living. Together, we will evolve and grow. This is a scary but exciting prospect which offers a tremendous opportunity to remind ourselves of our values, mission and priorities. Together, we will explore new ways to deepen our commitment as a community of faith. Strong relationships and authentic communication make St. Columba’s stronger as a whole, and I am here for you!
I have learned in the past few months how wholly committed St. Columbans are to the mission of Living God’s Love. During this time of extreme grief and uncertainty, this community stepped up and exceeded expectations with the “30 K/ 30 Day/ 30 Families” drive. The generosity and willingness to help those in need shows what a truly remarkable family we are. Together, we can do amazing things.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I look forward to meeting each of you, whether virtually or in person, soon!"
From Ledlie:
"We have a compelling message of God’s love to share. Helping us stay connected to one another as a congregation and helping us reach beyond with the good news of the Gospel has never felt more important than it does today. As we navigate this pandemic, we are redirecting resources so we can communicate effectively. To support Lauren in this effort, Jamal Williams will continue editing Daily Bread; we will contract with a new worship video editor for Sunday mornings: and will hire a project coordinator to support routine tasks, e.g., producing our weekly eNews.
With a degree in Digital Design and experience as a marketing strategist and freelance writer, Lauren is thrilled to be part of a community where we are deeply committed to Live God’s Love. Welcome Lauren!"
