Season of Creation
In this four week book group hosted and moderated by St. Columba’s Environment Committee, we will discuss “Saving Us” , by Katharine Hayhoe. We will explore how to navigate conversations around climate change, the role of our Christian values in those conversations, and approaches for embracing solutions.
Dr. Hayhoe’s book challenges us to think differently about talking about climate change and taking action. She asserts that facts are only one part of the equation for changing hearts and minds. Instead, by finding shared values, we can connect our unique ideas in support of collective action. This is not another doomsday narrative about the planet on fire. It is a multi-layered look at science, faith and human psychology. Dr. Katharine Hayhoe is a climate scientist and is Chief Scientist for The Nature Conservancy. She also serves as the climate ambassador to the World Evangelical Alliance and was a lead author for the U.S. second, third, and fourth National Climate Assessment.
